Robin Velghe is an illustrative designer and animator based in Belgium. His striking visuals draw inspiration from hip-hop and pop culture resulting in colourful and timeless aesthetics that resonate with people all over the world. His recent project Rhymezlikedimez focuses on the power that music has, pictorially representing the feeling of listening to a much-loved song. His work is of the highest quality and is much sought after, growing into a worldwide brand.
Rhymezlikedimez made a splash during Miami Art Week in December 2021 where the original character Puff was introduced to represent the cultural and visual artistry of hip hop. Puff represents all the things that brought joy to the artist as he was growing up and is featured in eight short films that show Puff skating past a range of different settings all filled with sunshine and nostalgia.
At the Miami exhibition entitled ‘Meet Me On Cloud 9’, Velghe shared a mix of both digital and physical work, notable a large inflatable recreation of the Puff character from his digital animations. This is where Glow Inflatables came in.
The team at Glow worked closely with Velghe to transform his two-dimensional character into a larger-than-life 3D inflatable artwork. This was the first time that his drawings had been brought to life in this way and the result was awesome. The perfectly replicated inflatable drew attention to the Rhymezlikedimez exhibition but also helped to promote the associated merchandise.
This collaboration with Glow literally added a new dimension to Velghe’s imaginary universe and was much admired by visitors to the exhibition.
