In April 2024, the city of Milan transformed into a stage for its annual design fair at which an array of creative industries took over the city with their large-scale installations. This year, the theme was Materia Natura which aimed to emphasise mindful design and sustainability. With their reputation for championing innovation and excellence, the German Design Council commissioned award-winning LOT Architects to create a number of original installations.

Glow Inflatables Ltd were delighted to be called up once again by our valued customer LOT Architects to help develop their ideas for the Milan Design Fair and turn them into functional inflatable designs.

The team at Glow supplied LOT Architects with an enormous pink inflatable canopy for the German Design Council’s opening exhibits as well as some giant inflatable cylinders which were suspended above a beautiful walkway. Glow also created a unique installation called the Garden House which combined space-age modernity with the surrounding traditional Italian architecture.

Visitors to the installations were not just passive observers but active participants. They were able to walk through the garden and experience the inflatables up close. This interactivity created a deeper connection between the design and its audience, emphasizing the importance of user experience in modern design.

With their continuing collaboration with Glow Inflatables Ltd, LOT Architects highlight the potential of new materials and technologies in creating flexible, sustainable art and design.
