Repeat business is always very satisfying as it means that customers have been pleased with our work so the team at Glow were delighted to be contacted once more by British designers Isabel Gibson and Helen Chesner to reproduce some more exclusive Bottega Veneta bags. Isabel + Helen loved the previously supplied custom inflatables so much that this time the giant handbags needed to be even bigger! The aim was to make a series of high-impact pop-up marketing campaigns in several locations around the world for Dover Street Market (DSM).
DSM is a multi-brand retailer that originated in Mayfair, London but now has stores in New York, Tokyo, Singapore, Beijing and Los Angeles. This exclusive retailer sells an exclusive selection of high-end fashion and accessories and has a unique artistic influence which has been described by founder Rei Kawakubo as ‘beautiful chaos’.
The first installation in the London store showed three over-sized replica handbags displayed on a huge inflatable mattress that looked like a stage covered with Italian terrazzo tiles. This Italian theme was in keeping with Bottega Veneta’s classic brand and Venetian pedigree. The display featured a white Mini Jodie Intrecciato hobo bag. The designers at Glow managed to capture the texture of the unique woven pattern this bag is so famous for. A larger woven effect was carried on through the design and manufacture of the replica Padded Cassette in bright green complete with silver triangular buckle. The third custom inflatable was a large replica of the classic Bottega Veneta pouch clutch bag in lime green.
Following the success of this installation in London, Bottega Veneta commissioned an even larger custom inflatable to draw in the crowds.
