This summer, Glow Inflatables were excited to work with the celebrated Korean-German artist Anne Duk Hee Jordan to help create a truly immersive experience which would tantalise all the senses.
The artist wanted to create a subterranean world with UV inflatables, one in the form of a worm, as part of her art collection on show at Urania Berlin this July. Glow’s experience in the production of inflatable art pieces made us the obvious choice for collaboration on this project.
We carefully worked with the artist’s sketches to create a 3D design and recommended some interesting new materials that could be used to compliment her ultra-violet theme. All of the work on display at the artist’s exhibition, including our inflatables, needed to be viewed under dark light / UV light for maximum visual impact. Before fabrication, we tested several fabrics to ensure that the finished product would create the desired effect. Once selected, we worked with our team to produce a pair of unique, inflatable worm-like creatures to illuminate the darkness of the artist’s sensory room.
The artist was really impressed with the forms, that they looked perfect alongside the other installations that she had created as part of the collection entitled “The worm: terrestrial, fantastic and wet”. Our inflatable animals, combined with video projections and sound performances, provided visitors with a fascinating insight into the secret life of the worm.
At Glow, we pride ourselves on working collaboratively with artists to help realise their vision.
