For two days in October, Leicester Square in the heart of London is transformed by a striking inflatable art installation designed by contemporary artist Claire Luxton. Her immersive piece entitled “Cornucopia” is commissioned by Art of London to celebrate the return of the Art After Dark programme.
The original work is created in partnership with MT Art and Glow Inflatables Ltd, covers 70 square metres and stretches up to 7m high. It magically transforms from day to night using LED lighting in a myriad of colours. The giant, multi-coloured tentacles symbolise growth, beauty and the vibrant energy of London’s West End where its prominence enables visitors to be immersed in a world of inflatable wonder. The striking exhibition has also been featured live on BBC London News.
Glow Inflatables Ltd is renowned for its expertise in creating inflatable art installations that push the boundaries of creativity. Our collaboration with Claire Luxton has added a dynamic and interactive element to the “Cornucopia” experience as well as an otherworldly dimension. Claire commended the team at Glow Inflatables for bringing her vision into reality.
Awestruck visitors responded on social media using a plethora of superlatives – ‘amazing’, ‘cool’, ‘beautiful’, ‘stunning’, ‘incredible’ and ‘off the chart’ being just some.
The inclusion of giant, illuminated inflatable sculptures in such immersive exhibitions allows visitors to challenge conventional boundaries. The whole experience of art is redefined, blurring the lines between reality and imagination, providing a visual and tactile journey that resonates on a deep and personal level.
