Glow Inflatables have enjoyed working with the Incredible artist that is Anja Carr from Oslo in Norway, her work is both beautiful, surreal, scary and mesmerising and we have been honoured to work with the artist on one of her latest pieces used at an exhibition at the Ghost Gallery in Los Angeles which opened on the 14th December. The Solo exhibition ‘Missed Call’ features the artists latest work.
The title of Carr’s solo exhibition; “Missed call” is pointing to one of the giant inflatable octopuses’ objects; the old fashion red phone, that children today will never have seen. What’s “missed” is up to you and what you see during her exhibition – whether it’s the chance of saving our sea creatures from eating our plastic waste or the artist drowning in her overfilled self-portraits.
The feature piece of the exhibition was the giant custom inflatable that we created with the artist, a 6m inflatable octopus multitasking like a 2019 human, with eight different everyday objects in its tentacles. Carr’s custom made sea creature is drowning in a kid’s pool filled in its own ink representing our current climate crisis. We worked very closely with the artist to get every detail perfect for her, and to represent her concept and vision as closely as possible.
We were very proud to be chosen from 25 suppliers worldwide to undertake the work proving that our expert knowledge in the field of inflatables gives our customers the confidence to place their custom inflatable orders and more sculptural art pieces for artists such as Anja. We work with artists worldwide to bring their work off the paper and into 3D form as well as supporting more 3D sculptural artists with their visions.
Inflatables are the perfect media to create all sorts of interesting shapes, colours and forms and we are looking forward to working with much more artists in 2020!
