At Glow Inflatables, we are passionate about transforming artistic visions into tangible, awe-inspiring creations. Our recent project at The Southbank Centre exemplifies this dedication, as we collaborated with the renowned New York-based artist Tavares Strachan to bring his unique sculptures to life.
Strachan, originally from The Bahamas, is celebrated for his innovative and thought-provoking works. For this project entitled ‘There is Light Somewhere’, we were tasked with creating two giant inflatable pots with 3D heads depicting the unsung cultural trailblazers Marsha P Johnson and Mary Seacole. Our custom artistic inflatables were meticulously crafted from scans of Strachan’s original pot models, capturing the essence of the artist’s vision. We blended creativity and craftsmanship to help shine a light on the often-hidden aspects of colonialism and racism.
Our team took great care in developing artwork that perfectly matched the intricate details of the pots and heads. Once the inflatables were ready, we installed them on top of prominent shelters at The Southbank Centre, a bustling cultural hub and popular summer hangout. This prime location ensures that the inflatables are seen and appreciated by countless visitors throughout the summer, adding a vibrant and dynamic element to the already lively atmosphere.
We are thrilled to have had the opportunity to collaborate with Tavares Strachan and showcase our expertise in creating large-scale, eye-catching inflatables. At Glow Inflatables, we continue to push the boundaries of what’s possible, bringing extraordinary art to public spaces for everyone to enjoy.
