This year Glow has been delighted to collaborate with IB Cycles & Cars on the recreation of one Scottish virtual artist Chris Labrooy’s iconic art pieces. Much of Labrooy’s body of work reflects his love of Porsches and his artwork has been featured in many of their international campaigns. In late 2020, he created some digitally produced works that featured a selection of Porsche 911 cars in unexpected situations. This concept included three cars floating in a swimming pool like inflatable pool toys and featured a pink flamingo, yellow duck and white swan.

Porsche was so impressed with his digital artwork that they featured him in their in-house 911 magazine. On top of that, Porsche decided to celebrate their 20th anniversary in China with the recreation of a full-sized version of the swan in a 996-generation 911 (the first Porsche sold in China). Stepping out of its virtual canvas, a real 966 chassis was modified to provide plenty of space for the inflatable swan, supplied by the team at Glow.

Glow worked closely with the incredible manufacturer IB Cycle and Cars in Italy who carefully removed the engine and bottom part of the original car ready for us to supply a perfectly proportioned inflatable swan. It was then expertly inserted into the empty chassis, enabling the finished piece to be in line with the artist’s vision.

This surreal combination of car and inflatable has the swan’s head cheerfully popping out of the windscreen. According to Porsche, the unique creation is a symbol of happiness – it certainly raises a smile in all those who are lucky enough to see it. The inflatable swan Porsche is now touring across China, making surprise appearances in different museums and art galleries. Autoevolution.com remarked that ‘you have to see it to believe it.’

Once again, the team at Glow Inflatables were able to make an artistic dream into a 3-dimensional reality.
